We left for Staci's Wednesday but didn't get there til 8:30pm. The girls were exhausted and starving from being in the car so long. We stopped a couple times to change diapers and feed them some yogurt and mandrin oranges. Charles came too so we had to stop and pick him up as well. Emi rode down with Staci and David when they left our house Monday morning. Chris came down on Thursday night after work. He got there around 10pm.
On Thursday, the girls played in the pool naked since it was so fricken HOT out!! They enjoyed sliding down the blowup slide and splashing into the pool.
Charles rode the 4 wheeler basically the whole trip. David was here til Saturday afternoon so that was fun. David and Staci have nice screened in porches on the front and back of the house. They have really nice cedar rocking chairs for everyone to sit in too. The girls tried them out and they loved them. The guys fished in the pond. There are HUGE catfish in there and this time they did catch and release.
On Friday, we planned a surprise graduation party for Charles. The girls wore their special headbands for the party. We stayed up playing catchphrase since that is Charles' favorite game.
On Saturday, David had to leave at 1pm to go back to work so the girls, Emi, Staci and I made a quick trip to town to show off the girls to some of Staci's friends. We got home just in time to take a couple photos with David and off he went.
Derek and Charles went for a long ride on the 4 wheelers through the woods and the neighborhood. When they came back they had a surprise...$175 ticket each for riding without helmets. They got pulled over by the National Forest police for riding on 4 wheelers in the forest, no helmets and no drivers license. Come on now...who the hell rides a 4 wheeler with their DL?! Plus, Derek told the cop we were on vacation visiting family and we didn't know there were laws for 4 wheelers. That cop didn't care and we're lucky he only gave them a ticket for no helmets. So $350 later we decided the 4 wheelers will only be rode on Staci and David's property.
On Sunday, we thought it was going to be a normal day. Derek and I finally decided we were going to leave around 4pm to come on home instead of Monday. Staci, Emi and I played with the girls in the pool on the porch while the guys fished in the pond.
Then around 3pm a huge rain storm came in and then the craziest thing happened....a tornado hit Staci and David's property! We all had decided to play a card game since Derek was taking and nap and so were the girls. It was just raining at this point. Then all of a sudden out of no where Staci yells "tornado" and I looked out the window and I saw this funnel coming towards us. Obviously, we are fine and no one is hurt since I'm writing this blog but it was so scary. I yelled "grab the girls" and we were all scrambling to get to the pantry. Derek was barely awake and didn't know what was going on. By the time we got to the pantry it was over. A funnel had come out of the sky and snapped the flag pole in half, tore off the metal roof and made a hole in the shed. It was freaky and we looked outside and saw the metal pieces everywhere even one in the tree 50 feet up. What a mess! So the girls have been in a tornado and didn't even know it since they were asleep.
After helping Staci clean up the mess and patching the roof enough to stop the leaking we left around 8pm to come home. We got home around 1:00am and were exhausted. The girls did so good riding home since it was bedtime for them. We dropped Charles off at his house and came on home.
What a trip! We had a blast and ate really good. The girls had such a good time playing. Can't wait to take them down there so they can enjoy a ride on the 4 wheelers.
